Sponsored Tandem Ride - August 2025
The team took to two wheels for an unforgettable tandem bike ride in support of their inclusive swimming and SEND services (Kernow Lighthouse CIC). Starting from Godrevy Lighthouse, Julia and Amy pedalled together along our beautiful Cornish roads and coastal paths β rain and shine! π΄ββοΈπ¦οΈ
From the very first moment, spirits were high as groups set off together to enjoy the camaraderie, stunning scenery and shared purpose behind the ride. Along the route, local sponsors and supporters cheered riders on and showed up throughout the day to boost morale and celebrate the effort.
Cycling 32.5 miles on a Tandem was difficult to say the least, with hills to battle they dug deep right until the very end.
A huge thank you to every sponsor, volunteer and supporter who made this event such a success. Your energy, enthusiasm and generosity helped bring the community together β and make a real difference to the lives of SEND swimmers and their families.
We had some exciting stops along the way, stopping in Porthleven we were welcomed by 2 Mermaids (Porthleven Mermaid, Kara-Hope Mermaid). After a well deserved break in Porthleven Amy and Julia got back on the saddle and peddled to Trevassick lake where Mischief the Mermaid had met them, and swam around the lake following the jetty.
We would like to say a big thank you to our big sponsors.
LWC drinks Cornwall, Aspect Holidays, MT Swim Coaching, Finisterre Foundation, Annβs Pasties, Holly Canter Bookkeeping, PLC Plastering, and F.I.C (uk) Limited.
The tandem ride wasnβt just a great day out β it also made a meaningful impact. After the ride we also joined the Bolingey Barbarians Charity Day at Camborne RFC, where the combined efforts helped raise an incredible Β£3,518.69 for Kernow Lighthouse CICβs ongoing work supporting children and families.
Stay tuned for updates on future rides and fundraising events β and keep an eye on the Squidlet Swim School and Kernow Lighthouse CIC socials for photos and stories from the day! π΄ββοΈπ
